Canyon Country Man Arrested For Suspected Rape

A Canyon Country man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman.

In March of 2021, Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Bureau began investigating the sexual assault of an adult woman, that occurred at a residence in the 27000 block of Sophia Lane in Canyon Country, according to Sgt. Brian Hudson with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.

“The suspect in the assault was identified as an acquaintance of the victim’s friend,” Hudson said.

As a result of the investigation, 20-year-old Isaac Phillips, a resident of Canyon Country, was arrested on suspicion of two felony counts of Rape by Intoxication, according to LASD officials.

The charge laid against Phillips, 261(A)(3), is applicable  “where a person is prevented from resisting by any intoxicating or anesthetic substance, or any controlled substance, and this condition was known, or reasonably should have been known by the accused,” according to the California Penal Code.

The investigation remains ongoing, according to Hudson.

Phillips was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station where he is being held with bail set at $300,000.
