This week, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that California secured two Fire Management Assistance Grants (FMAGs) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The FMAGs aim to help ensure resources to fight against multiple fires in the area and are meant to support the state’s response to the River, Lava, and Dixie Fires in Northern California.
CAL FIRE, Cal OES Fire, Rescue, and Regional emergency personnel are responding in concert with other federal, state, and local agencies to address emergency management and mutual aid needs for the fires.
Tribal agencies involved in the response are able to apply for 75 percent reimbursement of their eligible fire suppression costs, according to officials with Newsom’s office.

Newsom proclaimed a state of emergency in counties impacted by the fires currently burning in California.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Red Flag Warning across much of Northern California through Wednesday.
