14 Freeway Vehicle Fire Temporarily Blocks Lanes Near Santa Clarita


A vehicle fire on the 14 Freeway near Santa Clarita temporarily blocked lanes Thursday as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. 

Around 9:10 a.m. Thursday, emergency responders received reports of a vehicle fire on the northbound 14 Freeway towards Shadow Pines Boulevard near Santa Clarita, according to Sean Ferguson, a dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. 

“We have a standard vehicle fire,” Ferguson said. “There is no spread to the brush.”

Initial reports indicated that the rear of a black Mercedes sedan caught fire on the roadside of the northbound 14 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Incident Logs.

Both the No. 3 lane and the No. 4 lane were temporarily blocked for an unknown duration as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

The fire had been extinguished as of 9:35 a.m. Thursday, according to the CHP Incident Logs.

No injuries were reported.
