Two Trapped, Helicopter Requested After Santa Clarita Pursuit Ends In Rollover Crash

Two people were reported trapped in their vehicle Monday after a Santa Clarita pursuit ended in a rollover crash.

Around 8:30 p.m. Monday, officers with the California Highway Patrol attempted to stop a vehicle on Sierra Highway north of Santa Clarita, according to CHP officials.

After the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect fled in a southbound location and a pursuit was initiated, according to officials.

The suspect lost control of the vehicle and collided with a pole on Sierra Highway near Vasquez Canyon Road, said Mike Pittman, a dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“We got a call from CHP of a traffic collision at the termination of a pursuit,” Pittman said.

When crews arrived on scene they reported one vehicle overturned with two people trapped inside, according to Pittman.

As of 8:53 p.m., first responders are working to extricate the two individuals and a helicopter was requested to transport the injured occupants, according to Pittman.

It is unclear what the original want of the suspects were as of Monday evening.

The intersection of Sierra Highway and Vasquez Canyon Road are closed as of 9 p.m. while crews land the helicopter, according to officials.
