Two Arrested After Alleged Robbery In Stevenson Ranch, With One Giving False ID

Two Suspects were arrested after reports of a robbery Friday in Stevenson Ranch, and one of the suspects lied about who they were.

On Friday, deputies responded to a business on the 25400 block of the Old Road in Stevenson Ranch after receiving reports of a robbery, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Once at the scene, deputies learned that a man and woman, identified as Joseph Hawkins and Kanika Miler, had entered the location and began taking items from off the display case and attempted to walk out of the store.

Hawkins used his shopping cart to push past loss prevention personnel while Miller was detained in the store, according to Arriaga.

“During a search of suspect Miller and her property, deputies located identification cards and a debit card not named to her,” Arriaga said. Deputies also discovered that she had provided a false name when first speaking to deputies at the scene.

Miller was arrested for shoplifting and misappropriation of lost property, as well as providing false ID to a deputy, according to Arriaga.

Hawkins was located in the 24900 block of Pico Canyon Road after a short search by deputies and was arrested for robbery.

Both suspects were transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station where they were booked, according to arrest records.
