Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station Announces Free Catalytic Converter Etching Event

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Santa Clarita Valley Station, in partnership with “Reeves Complete Auto Center” in Canyon Country and “RG Brake & Alignment” in Valencia, is set to host free ‘Catalytic Converter Etching Events’ throughout the month of June.

As part of the continuing “GuardThatAuto” campaign, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station is scheduled to host free events throughout June to provide Santa Clarita residents with an etching of a vehicle’s license plate onto the frequently stolen catalytic converter.

An etching of a license plate onto the catalytic converter helps deputies locate its original owner in the event it is stolen and recovered, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials.

The scheduled dates for the free etching events include June 3, 8, 10, 12, 15, 17, 22 and 24.

This event is offered to Santa Clarita Valley residents by appointment only, with limited availability based on a first come, first served basis. To book an appointment or learn more about the event, contact Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Deputy Borbon of Community Relations at ka1borbo@lasd.org.

Appointments are set to be scheduled only by Deputy Borbon and not by the auto centers, so contacting Deputy Borbon before appointments are full is recommended.
