Santa Clarita Elder Abuse Suspect Arrested After Assaulting ‘Elderly’ Family Member

A Santa Clarita elder abuse suspect, who was reported to be under the influence was arrested Monday after he allegedly assaulted an “elderly” family member.

Around 11:30 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to the 19800 block of Aldbury Street in Canyon Country regarding a family disturbance, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Upon arrival, deputies observed an elderly male, with injuries, verbally arguing with a male adult,” Arriaga said.

During an investigation, deputies learned a physical altercation had taken place between the victim and suspect, according to Arriaga.

“(Deputies) also identified the suspect had a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person,” Arriaga said.

The victim was evaluated on scene for his injuries by medical personnel.

Michael Petett, 37, from Santa Clarita, was arrested on one felony count of elder abuse, Arriaga added.

Petett was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $50,000, according to arrest records.
