City Council Members hosted a ribbon cutting in honor of Needham Ranch Open Space in Santa Clarita on Friday.
On Friday morning, the new hiking paths were introduced alongside 262.2 acres of open space at Needham Ranch, open to a variety of outdoor activities such as horseback riding, hiking, and biking.
The Pines, Gates, Needham, and Romo trails are new to the series of hiking trails at Needham Ranch.
Santa Clarita Mayor, Bill Miranda, thanked the several volunteer groups who offered their time to develop each of the new trails.

“Thank you to the elder trail crew who designed and built the gates at Needham trail while also assisting in building the Romo trail,” Miranda said.
Along with the “natural beauty” of the land, the new open space area has a rich history in the 1888 oil business according to Mayor Miranda.
Additionally, the Needham Ranch’s Open Space land sits nearby the first operating oil refinery in the state of California.
For Santa Clarita residents wanting to explore these new trails, they can be found at 23450 Pine Street, Newhall, CA 91321.
