A Santa Clarita brush fire was quickly extinguished near the 14 Freeway Wednesday by firefighters.
The brush fire, dubbed the Escondido Fire, was first reported to firefighters around 3:05 p.m. on the 14 Freeway south of Escondido Canyon Road in Agua Dulce, said Sean Ferguson, an inspector for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The fire was reported to be a 300 by 300 foot spot fire off the side of the 14 Freeway, according to Fire officials.
The forward progress of the fire has been stopped, according to Ferguson.
The No. 3 lane of the northbound 14 Freeway south of Escondido Canyon Road was temporarily blocked due to the incident, according to California Highway Patrol traffic incident logs.
