Is This The Season Where The LA Rams Go For It All?

How long has it been since the Rams moved back to LA? It’s now been 5 years since the Rams made their way back to Los Angeles to take their city once again and show everyone in California how some of the best football in the country is done. While there have been some ups and downs across the road, that hasn’t stopped NFL odds experts from always having the Rams as one of the top favorite teams to go all the way season in and season out and this upcoming season is not the exception.

Yet, unlike other years, this one feels different, it feels like something truly special might be brewing and Rams fans could be in for a season in which all the pieces might finally fall into place for LA. With a new QB who is ready to become the all-star everyone has always expected him to be, an ultra-talented coach, one of the best secondary units in all of football and Aaron Donald, all the signals are there, everything feels just about right and its time we get to talking as to why this could perfectly well be the season in which the Rams go for it all.

Bringing In Matthew Stafford Was The Best Choice

I dare anyone who can actually talk ill about Matthew Stafford and what he has done in the league, even while playing for the Detroit Lions. It’s no secret that Stafford is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league, as well as one of the most respected players around and a fan favorite wherever he goes because of his dedication and compromise. It’s not his fault that the Lions couldn’t rally around him to give him what he deserved, but, at the end of the day, it’s only darkest when the sun is about to come up and for Stafford, moving to the LA Rams was all the sunrise and sunshine he could’ve ever asked for.

Matthew’s addition to the LA Rams offense is exactly what coach Sean McVay needed in order to finally feel happy and free to have a top tier QB running his team into title contention. Yes, Jared Goff did lead the Rams to a Super Bowl, but while Goff’s talents are there, you can’t compare them to Stafford’s. What does Stafford bring to the table for LA? A hunger for being in the big games, in the playoffs and who knows, maybe even the Super Bowl. His numbers back him, his credentials too and while he has a 0-3 record in the playoffs, Matthew Stafford will surely be the best leader to take the Rams into the playoffs and as far as they’re willing to go. It’s Stafford’s time to shine and show everyone why he is one of the absolute best QB’s in the league.

Aaron Donald Will Once Again Dominate

Does anybody remember a time where any other defensive player in the league was as dominant and groundbreaking as Aaron Donald? Yeah, no I didn’t think so either. Rams defensive end Aaron Donald will be back for yet another season in which he can prove that there is no better defensive player in the league than him. Given the fact that he is one of only four players in NFL history to win the Defensive Player of the Year award at least three times over a four-year span, it’s not hard to tell that Donald is the heart, spirit and of course the muscle of the Rams defense.

His 2020 season was yet another one that saw him shine through and become even more dominant, if that’s even possible. He recorded 13,5 sacks last season, tied for second best in the NFL, having his second game in his career with at least four sacks as well. Oh yeah and Donald’s record of 85,5 sacks in his career thus far are the most in the league ever since joining it in 2014. While Stafford will surely keep it down on the offense, you know that Donald will be the driving force behind a Rams defense that will surely make offenses around the league tremble in fear.

Sean McVay’s Time To Stand Out Is Here

Ever since joining the league Sean McVay has become one of the most talented and entertaining coaches to watch in all of pro football. His energetic coaching style and offensive driven mindset have made the Rams organization go from a boring ground and pound organization to actually being able to be very close to bringing back the “Greatest Show On Turf” moniker.  His three playoff wins as well as his trip to the Super Bowl, in a losing effort but still a trip to the Super Bowl have put him on the spotlights as one of the best coaches around.

While last year wasn’t really a year in which McVay and the Rams were able to fully showcase their full potential, being on the lower part of the offensive rankings in the league, it feels like this upcoming season their numbers will see a substantial climb, just like in 2018 and 2017 where they were running the league in scoring. Simply put, if anybody wishes to pin the blame on anybody to justify the Rams not being as dominant as before, then blame it on Jared Goff, but he’s gone and he already has his plate full in Detroit, so just let it be and get ready for a season in which with McVay’s lead the Rams could be in for some serious title contention aspirations.
