The William S. Hart Union High School District collaborated with Albertsons to offer a free COVID-19 vaccination clinic to members of the community on Friday.
Thanks to a partnership between the Hart District and Albertsons, students, families and other members of the community were able to get COVID-19 vaccinations at a free clinic at Placerita Junior High School on Friday.
“For us, getting kids back in the classrooms is the main goal that we have right now. And anything we can do to help the community, we want to support and be able to do that,” said Dave Caldwell, Public Relations Officer for the Hart District. “These vaccines have been remarkable and have dropped the virus numbers dramatically; obviously they’re having an effect.”
Over 300 people signed up for the event, although the clinic is set to offer upwards of 1,000 Pfizer vaccinations to families and students 16 years of age and older on Friday in order to help the community eradicate COVID-19, according to Hart District officials.
“What we wanted to do was to be able to give the community an opportunity to get a vaccine, to be able to educate the community, to allay any fears that maybe they had, and to give them a place that was centrally located,” Caldwell said.
Walk-up vaccinations can be obtained by completing a registration form available via QR code at the site, while pre-registrations can go straight to the vaccination location. The clinic is scheduled to be open until 8 p.m. Friday, May 7.

“The primary reason for the registration part of it, whether it’s in advance or through the QR code, is so that people can get registered and scheduled for their second shot,” Caldwell said. “It’s extremely important for them to be in the system so that the second shot can get administered when it needs to in three weeks.”
A confirmed event for everyone’s second vaccination shot is set to be determined, but Hart District is working with Albertson’s to lock in a future date in three weeks, Caldwell stated.
Los Angeles County Department of Public Health officials announced on Thursday that two-thirds of seniors in the county were fully vaccinated.
“When most of the community is vaccinated, and therefore immune from having or spreading a bad infection, transmission drops low enough that it becomes very unlikely the few unvaccinated people will have contact with an infected person and get sick,” read a Thursday statement.
As of May 2, more than 8,096,752 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to people across Los Angeles County.
By age group, two-thirds of seniors 65 and older and one-third of adults 16 to 64 are fully vaccinated, according to LADPH officials.
“In the case of COVID-19, community immunity has the added benefit of reducing the chance that viral variants will emerge,” wrote LADPH officials. “The exact number the County needs to vaccinate to achieve community immunity is unknown– but what we do know is that reaching it requires everyone who can get vaccinated to do it.”
