Captain Injured In Agua Dulce Fire Station Shooting North Of Santa Clarita Identified, GoFundMe Set Up


The family of the fire captain shot in an Agua Dulce Fire Station just north of Santa Clarita is seeking GoFundMe support after he was left to ‘fight for his life.’

Arnie Sandoval was identified as the captain shot at Fire Station 81, according to the family’s GoFundMe.  

“Arnie currently remains in critical, but stable, condition,” read a statement in the GoFundMe. “Arnie is facing a long, arduous physical and emotional road to recovery.”

Around 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, first responders received reports of a shooting at Fire Station 81 in Agua Dulce in the 8700 block of Sierra Highway, said Daryl Osby, the chief of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. 

Sandoval was working at Fire Station 81 in Agua Dulce during the incident when he was shot by an off-duty firefighter, according to the GoFundMe.

“Arnie’s Engineer (later identified as Tory Carlon) was fatally shot and Arnie was left fighting for his life,” read a statement in the GoFundMe

The suspect was later identified as Jonathan Tatone.

The reason for the shooting is still unknown.   

“Arnie is an avid outdoorsman, an entertaining storyteller, and a friend to all,” reads the GoFundMe. “He is an outgoing, well respected, and devoted Fire Captain. Arnie worked for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy before switching careers to the Fire Department.”

Sandoval has been honorably serving and protecting the citizens of L.A. County for over 30 years, according to the GoFundMe

“Prayers for Arnie’s recovery and all of those affected by this horrible tragedy are greatly appreciated,” reads the family’s GoFundMe
