Brush Fire Breaks Out In Wash In Santa Clarita


A brush fire in Santa Clarita broke out Wednesday evening prompting a response from firefighters.

UPDATE (8:40 p.m.): Forward progress of the fire has been stopped. The fire was stopped at three acres with five individual starting points according to officials.

UPDATE (8:30 p.m.): Sheriff’s officials have detained two individuals who are suspected to have started the fire according to deputies on the scene of the fire.

UPDATE (7:50 p.m.): The Valencia Fire is currently at three acres with zero percent containment according to fire officials.

The brush fire, dubbed the Valencia Fire, was first reported Around 7 p.m. Wednesday in a wash in Saugus on Bouquet Canyon Road and Valencia Boulevard, said Melanie Flores, a dispatch supervisor for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Crews reported three spot fires, according to Flores.

“The original fire started on Bouquet Canyon Road and Valencia Boulevard, spreading to heavy brush,” Flores said.

As of 7:10 p.m., no structures are threatened.
