A 5 Freeway brush fire north of Santa Clarita prompted a response from firefighters Thursday afternoon.
The brush fire, dubbed the Cherry Fire, was first reported to firefighters around 12:50 p.m. on the northbound 5 Freeway near Vista Del Lago Road north of Castaic, said Chris Thomas a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The fire was stopped at a half acre in light fuels, burning in the center divider, according to officials.
As of 1 p.m., the Cherry Fire is impacting northbound 5 Freeway traffic, according to officials.
