The eastbound 210 Freeway Osborne Street ramps in the San Fernando Valley are set to be closed for 45 days due to pavement work.
Starting July 12, the California Department of Transportation, (Caltrans) recently announced the closing of the ramps for pavement work in the San Fernando Valley on the eastbound 210 Freeway ramps to Osborne Street, which may affect all drivers, including drivers in Santa Clarita.
Eastbound 210 Freeway Osborne Street on and off-ramps in the Los Angeles community of Lake View Terrace are to be closed for 45 days starting at 6 a.m., Monday, July 12, according to Caltrans officials.
The pavement construction is part of a project worth $135.5 million, funded by Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), a 2017 act on Road Repair and Accountability, according to officials.
During construction, crews plan to pave the ramps, provide additional space for far-right lanes and more, according to representatives.
Several parts of the freeway that are expected to be upgraded include the lighting system, traffic signals for on and off-ramps and existing curb ramps to support the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), according to officials.
In the near future, drivers should also look for the guardrail system, traffic loop detectors, center median barrier and overhead sign structures to be upgraded in the 210 freeway as well, according to representatives.
Other parts to be replaced or rehabilitated include 52 miles of lanes from Wheatland Avenue to Interstate 5 as well as connectors and adjacent shoulders, according to officials.
In order to reduce trash on the freeway, stormwater treatment devices such as drain systems are set to be added.
A benefit of replacing the pavement plans to offer motorists a smoother ride and provide 40 years of service life, according to representatives.
Motorists have the option to use the ramps to Wheatland Avenue or Paxton Street as alternate routes, according to officials.
Local businesses and residents near the freeway can expect noise, vibrations and dust, and are cautioned to be alert of work zones and drive slow within cone zones, officials said.
Residents, especially in Santa Clarita, can also visit the Caltrans Quickmap to check traffic conditions.
