Thursday night’s football game saw the Valencia Vikings faceoff with the Hart Indians and the Golden Valley Grizzlies matchup with the Saugus Centurions.
With Hart High School’s starting quarterback out sick for the night, Valencia High School scored a one-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter, followed by a rushing 2-point conversion by senior free safety and kicker Caden Harrington.
The Indians were able to catch up fairly quickly, with junior defensive and offensive linemen Cole Spivey snagging a 60-yard fumble return touchdown, and an immediate point-after-touchdown score by senior kicker Cruz Lopez.
This wrapped up the first quarter at 8-7 with Valencia up one.
Hart ended the second quarter with an interception, but was still trailing Valencia by 8 points at 15-7.
Score remained 15-7 by the end of the 3rd quarter.
With the Indians not able to score any more points since the first quarter, the game concluded 25-7, providing the Valencia Vikings their 3rd win of the season.
The same sight, Saugus High School Centurions brought home their third straight win of the season against the Golden Valley Grizzlies. Valencia is placed first in the Foothill League with Saugus taking second with both undefeated at this point in the season.
