Wanted Suspect Arrested On Several Felonies After Routine Traffic Stop In Saugus

A wanted suspect on probation was arrested on a slew of felony and misdemeanor charges following a routine traffic stop in Saugus Thursday.

Around 12 p.m. Thursday, a deputy patrolling the 27000 block of Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus observed a vehicle with expired registration, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“While contacting the occupants of the vehicle, the deputy learned the male adult driver… did not have a valid driver’s license,” Arriaga said.

Further investigation indicated the individual was on felony probation and had an active outstanding warrant, according to Arriaga.

“During a search of the suspect, the deputy recovered narcotics,” Arriaga said.

The deputy also searched the vehicle and recovered a baton and a can of tear gas, Arriaga said.

Due to the suspect being a convicted felon, it is illegal for him to obtain a baton or tear gas, according to Sheriff’s officials.

Steven Kann, 23, from Bakersfield, was arrested for being a felon in possession of tear gas, felon in possession of a baton, both felonies and possession of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended license, both misdemeanors, Arriaga added.

Kann was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $101,300, according to arrest records.
