Free Ultrasounds To Be Offered By SCV Pregnancy Center

Free obstetric (OB) ultrasounds are expected to be available next month through the Santa Clarita Valley Pregnancy Center (SCVPC) between April 5 and April 11.

The SCVPC is offering free obstetric ultrasounds to the public between April 5 and April 11 through their clinic in Valencia.

Amid the process of training a new group of registered nurses, the clinic is planning to provide scans for up to 70 ‘models.’ The process is expected to be guided by a National Sonography Training organization to ensure safe procedures while performing the ultrasound, officials said.

“Obstetrical ultrasound is valuable regardless of what your intentions are for your pregnancy. It is a high-quality and vital tool to provide information and answer questions you may have,” according to the SCVPC’s website. “Our experienced medical professionals are certified in obstetrical ultrasonography and follow guidelines set collaboratively by the AIUM (American Institute in Ultrasound Medicine), the ACR (American College of Radiology), and the ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists).”

The training dates of April 5 to April 11 are planned to accommodate appointment hours between 8:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the last slot beginning at 3:15 p.m.

If a pregnancy has not yet been confirmed by a medical professional, an appointment for a free pregnancy test must be made prior to taking an ultrasound.

First and second trimester pregnancies are preferred, but all stages of pregnancy are eligible.

“Patients will receive the chance to see their baby for  the first or maybe second time and we send them away with pictures for their scrapbooks,” said Angela Bennett, President and CEO of the SCVPC. “We are a non-profit and do not charge for any pregnancy diagnostics, so we are happy to receive the proper training to provide ultrasounds to the community.”

To take advantage, book an appointment at SCVPC’s website or call (661) 255-0082. Walk-ins are not available due to the coronavirus pandemic.
