Canyon Country Murder Suspect To Attend Pre-Trial Conference

A court date for a pre-trial conference is scheduled Friday for a Canyon Country murder suspect charged with killing his former rehab acquaintance.

Pacoima resident David Alonso Figueroa, on trial for the suspected murder of his former rehab acquaintance, is slated to appear for a pre-trial date this Friday.

Figueroa, 35, is on trial for the 2018 murder of 30-year-old Brent Hariston, reported Ricardo Santiago, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Figueroa is accused of stabbing Hariston close to his home on Dewdrop Avenue in Canyon Country on July 30, 2018, according to Lt. John Corina of the LA County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.

According to Corina, the two men previously met in rehab.

Around 5:30 a.m. on July 30, 2018, Figueroa allegedly arrived at the house to pick up Hariston for work, according to Sheriff’s officials, and the two began arguing.

It is unclear why the argument started, but it ended with the suspect allegedly stabbing the victim multiple times in the upper chest, Corina said.

After deputies arrived on scene, the suspect had reportedly fled.

A containment was then established, and the suspect was soon found hiding out in someone’s backyard, according to law enforcement officials.

Figueroa was soon taken into custody and booked on several charges, including murder, with bail set at $2 million.
