Canyon Country Shooting Leaves Two Injured, Suspects Outstanding

Deputies are investigating a Canyon Country shooting that occurred on Friday which sent two individuals to the hospital.

Around 8:55 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to Silk Tree Way and Cherry Willow Drive in Canyon Country following reports of an assault with a deadly weapon, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“After investigation, it was learned that three males approached two males in a vehicle parked at the location to complete a sales transaction for an item being sold,” Arriaga said.

For unknown reasons during the transaction, a brief struggle ensued between the five individuals, according to officials.

“As the vehicle tried to drive away, two victims were struck by gunfire,” Arriaga said.

The two victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and drove themselves to the hospital, according to officials.

As of Monday afternoon, the investigation is still ongoing, with no suspect description available.
