Photos: High Winds Cause Damage Across Santa Clarita Valley


An extreme wind event referred to as the  “strongest wind event of the season” brought strong gusts that uprooted trees, downed powerlines and damaged buildings across the Santa Clarita Valley on Tuesday.

The morning started with a large eucalyptus tree falling into a condo building on the 25700 block of Hogan Drive in Valencia.

Another large tree blocked northbound lanes of McBean Parkway near Granary Square in Valencia at around 2:00 p.m.

Blocking Avenue Stanford north of Rye Canyon was a large tree blown over by strong winds Tuesday.

A billboard was ripped from its mooring and was blown into the roadway on Railroad Avenue near 15th Street in Newhall

The roof of a warehouse building was peeled off by high winds near Drayton Street and Railroad Avenue in Saugus.
