Canyon Country Shooting Suspect In Custody Following COBRA Operation


A suspect wanted in connection with a Canyon Country shooting has been taken into custody following a crime suppression operation by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Career Offender – Burglary, Robbery, Assault (COBRA) team.

On Friday night, COBRA detectives conducted a crime suppression operation in Santa Clarita, resulting in at least five arrests, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station

During the operation, detectives took 32-year-old Questin Walleman into custody in connection with a shooting that occured in Canyon Country Wednesday night.

At around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, officials received reports of an assault with a deadly weapon on Medley Ridge Drive in Canyon Country, according to Lieutenant Loughridge with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Deputies are out there investigating a shooting,” Loughridge said at the time. “The victim drove themselves to (the hospital).”

The investigation was reportedly prompted after the victim arrived at Henry Mayo Newhall hospital with a gunshot wound.The vehicle the victim arrived in also reportedly had a bullet hole in a car door, according to officials on scene.

The exact condition and identity of the victim was not available Monday afternoon.

Walleman was transported to and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, where his bail was set at $1 million.
