Wanted Suspect In Custody On Several Felony Drug, Weapon Charges

A wanted suspect on probation was arrested on a slew of drugs and weapons charges Monday after a routine patrol check by deputies in Valencia.

At around 12:15 p.m. Monday, deputies were patrolling Copper Hill Drive and Courtland Way in Valencia when they recognized a male adult known to have an active outstanding warrant, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Deputies contacted the male… and confirmed he had multiple active outstanding warrants,” Arriaga said.

While searching the suspect, deputies recovered a loaded firearm which was not registered, a secondary magazine with additional bullets, a bag containing methamphetamine, and three separate containers of marijuana, according to Arriaga.

“Further inquiry revealed the suspect was on active probation and a previously convicted felon,” Arriaga said.

The suspect, 23-year-old Jacob Dunn of Valencia, was arrested on felony charges of illegal possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substance with a loaded firearm, and one misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana for sales, Arriaga added.

Dunn was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with bail set at $300,000, according to arrest records.
