Two Rescued After Falling 100 Feet Down Embankment In 14 Freeway Crash


Two people were rescued by first responders after a 14 Freeway crash sent then “at least 100 feet” down an embankment and trapped them in their vehicle Thursday evening.

Just after 6 p.m., reports were received of a vehicle over the side of the northbound 14 freeway near Soledad Canyon Road, according to Supervisor Rangel with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“The car was at least 100 feet down (the embankment),” Rangel said at 6:30 p.m. “They are conducting a rescue now.”

Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue deputies, as well as two helicopters from the L.A. County Fire Department, were dispatched to the scene, in addition to two ambulances.

Two patients were airlifted to a nearby hospital, according to Supervisor Pittman. A third patient was transported to the hospital by ground.

No other injuries were reported in relation to the incident, according to Rangel.

The exact condition of the patients, as well of the exact cause of the crash were unknown as of Thursday evening.
