Valencia Robbery Suspect Arrested After Stealing Items From Macy’s

A Valencia robbery suspect was arrested Monday afternoon after he allegedly stole items from Macy’s over the weekend.

On Sunday around 12 p.m., deputies responded to the Macy’s in the 26400 block of McBean Parkway in Valencia regarding a robbery call, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Upon arrival, deputies learned a male adult, 24 years old, attempted to leave the store without paying for items collected,” Arriaga said.

A loss prevention officer contacted the suspect as he exited resulting in a brief struggle occurring, according to Arriaga.

At one point the suspect attempted to physically assault the victim, according to investigators.

“The suspect managed to flee, out of view,” Arriaga said.

During the investigation, deputies learned that the suspect was known for committing previous thefts at the location as well, according to Arriaga.

Zachary Lewis, 24, a transient, was located Monday afternoon and arrested on felony robbery charges, Arriaga added.

Lewis was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with bail set at $90,000, according to arrest records.
