The largest one-day number of Los Angeles Coronavirus cases have been reported on Thursday, breaking the record from earlier this week, public health officials said.
An additional 7,854 coronavirus cases have been reported in Los Angeles County, the highest number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic, according to Dr. Muntu Davis, Los Angeles County health officer.
Davis added that the rise in cases is not due to increased testing, as the positivity rate has also increased.
The additional cases reported Thursday bring the county’s cumulative total to 421,881, according to the department.
There are 2,572 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Thursday, 24 percent of which are in the ICU.

On Tuesday, Los Angeles public health officials reported the previous highest one-day number of cases, infecting more people at a “faster rate than ever seen in L.A. County before.”
