A containment has been set up in Canyon Country as deputies search for a suspect wanted in connection with a reported assault.
Shortly after 7:15 p.m. Tuesday night, deputies began a short pursuit of an individual suspected of assault in the area near Jakes Way in Canyon Country, according to Lieutenant Royal with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“We responded to that location to a possible assault call,” Royal said. “We were detaining a possible suspect who ran. We set up containment and are currently looking for them.”
Deputies were still searching for the suspect as of 8 p.m.
Initial reports indicate that the suspect was already handcuffed before fleeing from deputies.
An exact description of the suspect was not immediately available as of Tuesday night.
