One person was killed, and another was sent to the hospital after a high-speed pursuit ended in a crash in Saugus Wednesday evening, where two individuals were originally reported dead.
UPDATE (6:55 p.m.): Officials have since updated their logs to indicate that only one individual was killed as a result of the crash.
“The log originally said two were dead on arrival,” said Supervisor Peters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “It’s since been updated to only one dead on arrival, and one patient with moderate injuries.”
The southbound lanes of Haskell Canyon Road in the area were shut down as officials worked to clear the scene.
Original Post: Just after 6 p.m. Wednesday, reports were received of a traffic collision on Bristol Way near Haskell Canyon Road in Saugus.
“It was the end of a pursuit, and two were dead on arrival,” said Supervisor Peters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “It was a motorcycle versus a passenger vehicle.”
Before Los Angeles County Fire Department officials arrived on scene, officials with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office had been contacted, and were en route to the scene.
No other injuries were reported in relation to this incident.
The pursuit began with around 5:55 p.m. after the motorcycle was seen speeding by a Caliornia Highway Patrol unit. The motorcycle did not slow down and led a short pursuit before the crash, according to Officer Kravig with California Highway Patrol.
