A man who crashed his car into a tree Tuesday evening has been arrested on felony DUI after injuring his passenger in the collision.
On Tuesday around 11:50 p.m., deputies responded to Soledad Canyon Road and Prairie Lane in Canyon Country regarding a traffic collision, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“It was indicated that a vehicle collided with a tree,” Arriaga said.
When first responders arrived on scene, they observed a white dodge challenger had collided onto the center median of Soledad Canyon Road and into a tree, according to Arriaga.
A male adult was standing outside the vehicle telling first responders his friend was still inside the vehicle, according to Sheriff’s officials.
One person was confirmed to be trapped in the vehicle according to Los Angeles County Fire Department officials at the time of the crash.

Firefighters worked for over 50 minutes to extricate the passenger, before they could transport her to the hospital, according to Fire officials.
When the deputy was talking to the driver, he observed the suspect’s speech was slurred and had a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath and person, according to investigators.
“While conducting pre-standard field sobriety tests questions, the deputy observed the suspect was incoherent with his responses,” Arriaga said. “The suspect was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation pertaining to his injuries.”
Upon completion of the field sobriety tests, the deputy determined the suspect was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.
Jason Carpenter, 34, from Los Angeles, who claimed to be a firefighter from an unknown department, was arrested for felony DUI as a result of causing injury to another person, Arriaga added.
Carpenter was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $115,000, according to arrest logs.
