Public health officials are further urging the Los Angeles County community to avoid gathering in groups in efforts to slow the surge in coronavirus cases.
An additional 15 coronavirus cases have been reported in the Santa Clarita Valley on Monday apart of the 1,431 reported cases across Los Angeles County, according to the L.A. County Department of Public Health.
The countywide total now stands at 323,625, with the Santa Clarita Valley coronavirus total reaching 7,625, according to the department.
Five additional deaths were reported Monday, bringing the cumulative total in L.A. County to 7,177 deaths, according to public health.
Over 3,270,000 coronavirus tests have been conducted as of Monday, with about nine percent of those tests returning positive.
There are 855 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Monday, 29 percent of which are in the ICU.
As of Monday, a total of 7,625 cumulative cases of COVID-19 since testing began in March. These include:
- 4,743 in the City of Santa Clarita*
- 179 in the unincorporated areas of Canyon Country
- 2,224 in Castaic*
- 39 in the unincorporated areas of Saugus
- 221 in Stevenson Ranch
- 53 in the unincorporated areas of Valencia
- 106 in the unincorporated areas of Val Verde
- 29 in the unincorporated areas of Newhall
- 10 in the unincorporated areas of Bouquet Canyon
- 12 in the unincorporated areas of Saugus/Canyon Country
- Seven in unincorporated Sand Canyon
- Two in unincorporated San Francisquito Canyon/Bouquet Canyon
*As of Sunday, Nov. 8 officials have recorded 1,887 cumulative cases have been reported at the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center, including 1,366 at the North County Correctional Facility. Those cases are distributed between both the City of Santa Clarita and Castaic totals.
Additionally, 92 cumulative cases were confirmed in nearby Acton as well as 44 in Agua Dulce.
An analysis of available data indicates that as of Sunday, Nov. 8, approximately 24.8 percent of all cumulative cases in and around the Santa Clarita Valley can be attributed to the inmate population at the North County Correctional Facility and the Pitchess Detention Center.
As of Monday, Nov. 9, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has conducted 10,786 COVID-19 tests. Of those, 1,104 have tested positive, and four tests are still pending with Henry Mayo, according to Patrick Moody, spokesperson for the hospital.
There are 21 patients in the hospital as of Wednesday, Nov. 9 while 321 patients have been discharged since the hospital’s first case was reported in March, according to Moody.
33 coronavirus deaths have been reported at Henry Mayo which are a part of at least 76 deaths across the Santa Clarita Valley.
