Burrtec Advises How To Handle Rainy Day Trash Pick-Ups

Heavy rainfall and flooding can cause trash pick-up days to become messy, and Burrtec is advising the public on how to avoid spillage and pollution on trash days.

Rain and wind can cause trash bins to fall or flood, causing debris to be washed into the street. In order to prevent this spillage and possible pollution to your street, Burrtec recommends taking steps to make trash collection easier.

Being aware of stormwater runoff can help to prevent flooding and placing trash bins where they can easily be swept away or knocked over. Bins should be placed three feet from the curb so that they are not in the stormwater runoff area.

Empty bins can also be easily swept away or knocked over so it is advised that residents bring trash bins back into their storage place soon after the trash is collected.

Storm and flood warnings have been issued for the Santa Clarita area for the upcoming week, with expectations of heavy rainfall starting Monday.
