5 Horses To Look Out For In 2022

Horse Racing in 2022.

Whether you’re a betting person, or just someone who absolutely loves the races, there are a select few horses you will want to keep your eye on over the next year.

Betting money is big on horses, so you want to choose the right one, because the right one can be a big win. We look back at 2021, and we saw some amazing contenders, epic races, and plenty of firsts for the world of horse racing.

Of course there were sad moments too, but looking back over the past year of horse racing, there is plenty of proof of which horses we should be watching closely in 2022.

So, we hope you are up-to-date on the latest races, the latest horses, and what is up and coming over the next year, because we have some big names for you to note down and remember for your next trip to the stands!

5 Horses To Keep An Eye On.

Over last year, we were reunited with some old favorites, some new names, and we said goodbye to some others.

If you paid attention closely to the last year, then you will notice that there is one 2021 Pegasus post position draw in the 2022 favorites list. But, we will talk about that more when we get to that horse.

Anyway, without any more ado, let’s get to those horses, and see where you should be placing your bets this year!

#1. Lady Rocket.

First up is Lady Rocket. She is not one of the horses we would’ve expected to see in this list at first, but she has improved vastly over the recent months. Having been successful in four of her five most recent starts. Elevating her game to a whole other level in the Go for Wand Handicap race at Aqueduct.

In fact, at that race, she totally smashed her competition by nine lengths.

Everything we have seen from Lady Rocket has been impressive. She sets quick fractions, amazing up with 23:22 and 46.54 seconds, and even reaching the finish easing up in 1:36.52 seconds!

Her rapid clocking over a fairly slow track has been shown to have beaten males in the Cigar Mile that was run on the same afternoon.

Keep your eye on Lady Rocket!

#2. Knicks Go.

Okay, this horse is no real surprise. Last year, Knicks Go was the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile champion. This year, he is already an early favorite for the $3 million Pegasus World Cup.

He won the Breeders’ Cup last year by 2.5 lengths, beating Medina Spirit and Essential Quality with ease.

A majority of experts in racing are predicting that Knicks Go will easily be named as the American Horse of the Year in January by Eclipse awards. His trainer, Brad H Cox was named as the Trainer of the Year last year, and both could steal the titles again this year.

#3. Mandaloun.

Sadly, the world lost Medina Spirit on the 6th of December 2021, an amazing race horse no one will be quick to forget. However, the shocking passing of Medina Spirit also meant that the bookies needed to pick a new favorite to win the Kentucky Derby 2022.

Most are looking towards Mandaloun, the horse who came second in last year’s race. Mandaloun also won the Risen Star Stakes, and the Pegasus Stakes too. Mandaloun only lost to Medina Spirit last year, so it is no surprise that the bookies would be looking this way.

#4. Tiger Roll.

Of course, there is Tiger Roll, who is a 20time Grand National winner. Tiger Roll could sadly not compete last year due to some weight issues. However, should we see Tiger Roll return to the races this year, we should expect an attempt to meet Red Rum’s record triple win!

He had two Grand National Victories, in 2018 and 2019, and had been successful with over 10 riders since he started racing in 2014. It does not matter if he is ridden by male or female jockeys, either. He is just a successful horse anyway, with Tiger Roll it is not the jockey, it really is the horse that has the skill.

#5. Minella Times.

With Tiger Roll being out of the picture in the Grand National (Europe’s biggest race) last year, Minella Times took the reins.

Minella times was ridden last year by jockey Rachel Blackmore, and this was the first ever time in history that a woman won the race. It was a moment in history not to easily be forgotten.

Minella Times had the skill to win, having been trained at a successful stable, however, people seemed shocked.

We weren’t, and we wouldn’t be shocked to see Minella Times, and perhaps Rachel Blackmore win again this year!
