Three Arrested On Drug, Theft Charges After Being Reported As Suspicious To Santa Clarita Deputies

Three suspects who were reported to Santa Clarita deputies for acting suspiciously, were arrested Monday on a slew of charges after being found in possession of stolen property and drug paraphernalia.

On Monday evening, deputies responded to the 26900 block of Avenida Terraza in Saugus regarding a person acting suspicious in a vehicle, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Upon arrival, deputies identified a vehicle matching the description provided in the call for service,” Arriaga said.

When deputies contacted the three individuals in the vehicle, they observed several cut pipes and drug paraphernalia within reach of the suspects, according to Arriaga.

“A further search into the vehicle resulted in the recovery of several cut pieces of copper and metal piping, drug paraphernalia, and tools commonly used for theft,” Arriaga said.

Deputies also learned that one of the suspects was on active parole and a second suspect was on active felony probation, Arriaga said.

Robert Alford, 33, from Newhall, and Jacob Baumgarten, 42, from Saugus, were arrested for felony grand theft and misdemeanor possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia, Arriaga said.

Jennifer Fortier was also arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, Arriaga added.

All three suspects were arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with Alford’s bail set at $20,000, and Baumgarten was given no bail, according to arrest records.
