Full 210 Closures Concluded for 2021, Ramps Remain Affected

Full 210 Freeway weekend closures south of Santa Clarita are expected to be done for 2021, however, certain on and off-ramps are scheduled to remain closed for construction.

Over the last several months, parts of the 210 Freeway have been fully closed while The California Department of Transportation, (CALTRANS) repaved the roadway.

“Our contractor has completed all extended weekend closure work on I-210 between Roxford Street and I-5,” CALTRANS officials said. “Next year, there will be extended weekend closures on westbound I-210 at Osborne Street and Foothill Street, which will include a full closure of the freeway for 55 hours.”

There is also a possibility for a few more extended weekend closures to be added on eastbound I-210 near Polk,  Hubbard and Maclay Streets next year, with one lane open for traffic.

Certain on and off-ramps to the 210 Freeway have been opened ahead of schedule with several remaining closed, according to CALTRANS officials.

  • The eastbound I-210 Wheatland Avenue ramps were opened ahead of schedule this week.
  • Eastbound I-210 Maclay Street ramps are have been closed since Sept. 20, for 45 days
  • Eastbound I-210 Yarnell Street off-ramp was left open for motorists since the contractor completed work ahead of schedule during extended weekend closures
  • Eastbound I-210 Yarnell Street on-ramp has been closed since Sept. 7 and is scheduled to open ahead of schedule for Oct. 4.
  • Eastbound I-210 Polk Street ramps have been closed since Sept. 7, and is projected to open ahead of schedule of Oct. 4
  • Eastbound I-210 Roxford Street ramps are planned to close on Oct. 4 for 45 days
  • Eastbound I-210 Hubbard Street ramps are scheduled to close on Oct. 18 for 28 days.

“These closures are necessary to allow the contractor extra room for paving work on the right lane and also to pave any concrete material on the ramps if possible,” CALTRANS officials said.

A bypass lane was implemented on the temporary lane configuration at eastbound I-210 between I-5 and SR-118. The bypass lane is in between k-rails and allows CALTRANS to maintain all lanes of the highway open for motorists while the right lanes are being paved, according to officials.

“The new bypass lane is NOT a carpool lane, anyone can enter. However, you will not be able exit the lane until just before SR-118. If you need to exit before SR-118, use the other general purpose lanes,” officials said.
