Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Marks Re-Opening Of Family Health Center In Santa Clarita

On Thursday, a ribbon cutting ceremony took place to celebrate the grand re-opening of the Samuel Dixon Family Health Center (SDFHC) in Canyon Country.

The center on Camp Plenty Road has undergone a complete remodel and expansion of the space, adding more exam rooms, a behavioral health office for a full-time mental health specialist, larger waiting room and larger office space for staff.

Joined by Councilwoman Marsha McLean, Congressman Mike Garcia’s representative Tami Stephens, Senior Representative Patsy Ayala on behalf of Assemblywoman Suzette Valladares  and Assistant Field Deputy Natalie Vartanian for County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, community members gathered to see the opening of the new facility.

“During the past twenty years that we have been at this Canyon Country location and the forty-one years we have served the Santa Clarita Community, the needs of our patients have increased and we felt that an expansion of our facility and services was necessary, specifically to meet the increase need for behavioral health services,” said SDFHC Chief Executive Officer, Philip Solomon.

The center aims to provide health services to the Santa Clarita area, including dental and mental health services. It also seeks to service the uninsured and underserved populations.

“We are extremely grateful for the support we’ve received from our community and from our community partners who share in the work we do to help care for those in need,” said Soloman.
