Legends FC Santa Clarita Valley Soccer Team Makes History In National Championship

The Legends FC Santa Clarita Valley Girls 2007 (Legends FC) team has made it to the Final 8 in the country, making Santa Clarita history just last week.

For the first time in Santa Clarita history, a soccer team of any age, boys or girls, has made it to the Final 8 in the country after competing in the 2021 USYS National Championship.

The Legends FC Santa Clarita Valley Girls 2007 team traveled to Bradenton – Sarasota, Florida last week as one of the top 8 teams in the country, competing against the best of the best, according to the Legends FC.

“What an incredible 2021 Summer experience for all the players and families,” said Coach Adam Waddell. “Cal South National Cup Champions, USYS Far West Regional Championship Finalists in Idaho, and USYS National Championships in Florida. We made Santa Clarita Valley history and should be extremely proud!”

During the 2021 USYS National Championship, Legends FC SCV G07 battled against teams from San Diego, Tennessee and Cleveland.

“In the end, they did not advance to the semi-finals, but the lessons learned and incredible memories they will carry with them forever,” according to a statement from Legends FC.

Two of the four teams in their bracket advanced to the Final Championship which shows the strength of the bracket in which they competed and the difficult journey they faced, according to Legends FC.

The team includes: Coach Adam Waddell, Team Manager Andy Bruno, Gunner Gubelli

Players – Kennedy Arnold, Isabella Bruno, Sierra Cordola, Bella Costello, Gianna Costello, Sophia DeCesare, Abby Frink, Lily Golphenee, Halle Greenfield, Maile Hernandez, Kylie O’Donnell, Alyssa Owens, Mia Rodriguez, Presley Roth, Gisele Saravia, Gigi Sardo, Mackenzie Wiese and Julia Willis with guest players Mikaela Burchell, Sophia Dias, Juliet Thrapp, and Ashlyn Vaughn.

“Thank you to everyone that helped support this amazing team,” Waddell said. “We could not have done it without the contributions and the generosity of the Santa Clarita Valley community. From donations for our raffle to monetary donations big and small – every bit counted and showed the girls what large hearts we have here in our community!”
