14 Freeway RV Fire Spreads To Brush, Shuts Down Northbound Lanes

The 14 Freeway fire in Acton broke out due to an RV Fire near Escondido Canyon Road Friday afternoon, officials said.

The brush fire, dubbed the Carr fire, in Acton was reported at about 10:45 a.m. on the 14 Freeway near Escondido Canyon Road, according to Jonathan Matheny, Public Information Officer with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“Right now it is being reported as 50 by 50 (foot) spot all ground units are continuing at this time,” Matheny said. “We are waiting on an update.”

All lanes of the northbound 14 Freeway were temporarily shut down due to “vehicle parts exploding into lanes,” according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) incident logs.

A SigAlert has since been issued for the No.3 and No.4 lanes for one hour on the northbound 14 near Escondido Canyon Road.

The incident reportedly began in connection with an RV towing another vehicle that then caught on fire, according to CHP logs.

No injuries have been reported as of 11:00 a.m. Friday.
