A well-involved big rig fire sparked a small brush fire north of Santa Clarita, which was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
Around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, first responders received reports of a vehicle fire on the northbound 5 Freeway near Templin Highway, north of Castaic, said Marvin Lim, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“It was a well-involved semi that spread to the brush,” Lim said.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the truck and brush fire, holding it to a 50 by 50 foot spot, Lim said.
Smoke from the blaze was reportedly visible from Castaic, according to officials.
