Three Providence medical centers in Southern California, were the only hospitals in the state to make Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work in Healthcare list for 2021, officials said Wednesday.
Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills made the prestigious list for the third straight year, Providence St. Jude Medical Center, Fullerton, for the second year in a row; and Providence St. Joseph Hospital of Orange was included this year in the annual list of 150 health care organizations and support businesses, according to officials.
“These three hospitals were among those serving some of California’s most affected by the pandemic, yet they have built such strong cultures of commitment to our patients and communities hit hardest to one another that caregivers agree Holy Cross, St. Jude and St. Joseph are great places to work,” said Kevin Manemann, chief executive Providence Southern California. “I thank our leadership for the examples they set and for empowering caregivers to thrive in a nurturing environment that encourages teamwork, open doors and recognition for a job very well done.”
Modern Healthcare is a leading trade magazine for the health care industry. Published weekly, it is the go-to for health care leaders including hospital executives, consultants and support organizations, according to officials.
Its annual Best Places to Work list spotlights success in nurturing employee satisfaction and patient experiences, true challenge this year as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect our communities, according to officials.
“How these organizations have navigated the COVID-19 pandemic is only part of the story; they were also scored on more traditional measures such as benefit design, transparent communication from leadership and others,” according to the magazine.
Providence offers a full range of benefits, wellness programs, opportunities for career advancement, tuition reimbursement and nurse shared governance to advance bedside care. To assist employees during the pandemic, Providence offered financial help with childcare costs and provided other benefits including mental wellness checks for employees and their families, according to officials.
Modern Healthcare is set to reveal the ranked order in two categories — one for providers and insurers and another for supplier companies—on Sept. 16 at the Best Places to Work Gala hosted in Chicago and also in a Sept. 20 magazine supplement.
The recognition program honors workplaces throughout the industry that empower employees to provide patients and customers with the best possible care, products and services.
