Southbound lanes of the 14 Freeway were closed for an unknown duration Friday evening due to a felony traffic stop in Santa Clarita, officials said.
Around 4 p.m. Friday, deputies received reports of an embezzled vehicle near the Newhall Avenue on-ramp of the 14 Freeway, according to Lt. Jonathan Hoyt with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“We received reports of an embezzled rental vehicle,” Hoyt said. “Two are being detained.”
A traffic stop was initiated on Friday after the vehicle ran a red light and plates came back as an embezzled vehicle, according to Hoyt.
Law enforcement had guns drawn while approaching the suspects in the vehicle, according to officials on scene.
Southbound 14 Freeway lanes were temporarily closed for an unknown duration as of 4:20 p.m., according to Hoyt.
No injuries have been reported.
