Santa Clarita Arrests Decrease By 25 Percent During Father’s Day Weekend

Santa Clarita saw a decrease in arrests during Father’s Day weekend, with half of them being on driving under the influence (DUI) charges.

Between Friday, June 18 and Sunday, June 20, law enforcement personnel with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office arrested 12 individuals, with six on DUI charges, according to arrest records.

This weekend marks a drop in arrests compared to last weekend, which saw 16 total bookings, according to last weekend’s arrest logs.

41 percent of arrests were on felony charges which is an increase compared to 13 percent last week, according to arrest records.

Some of the  felony arrests were for possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, evading law enforcement, felony DUI and car theft, according to officials.
