Two suspects were arrested and over $100,000 of U.S. currency was seized Tuesday after a 14 Freeway pursuit that exceeded 100 mph started north of Santa Clarita.
Around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, a CHP officer monitoring traffic attempted to stop a 2017 Dodge Charger on the northbound 14 Freeway near Ward Road north of Santa Clarita, said Officer Josh Greengard, a spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.
“The vehicle failed to yield, and we initiated a pursuit,” Greengard said.
The pursuit sped north on the 14 Freeway exceeding 100 mph at times, according to CHP officials.
The vehicle exited the 14 Freeway on Avenue S in Palmdale, according to officials.
The pursuit came to an end on Sierra Highway south of Avenue R, where at least three individuals were detained, said Officer Monique Mischeaux, with the Antelope Valley CHP Area Office.
The driver was booked into the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station’s Jail for felony evading and a passenger was booked on an outstanding felony warrant for possession of a firearm, according to Mischeaux.
Initial reports were that three individuals were detained, however, only two were arrested, according to CHP officials.
“Additionally, over $100,000 in US currency was seized by CHP for potential asset forfeiture,” Mischeaux added.
