Narcotics, Weapons Recovered After Traffic Stop In Santa Clarita

A man was arrested on Tuesday after several weapons and narcotics were found in his vehicle during a traffic stop in Santa Clarita.

Around 9 a.m. Tuesday, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with multiple code violations on Alaminos Drive near Tothill Drive in Saugus, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Upon contacting the male adult driver, (deputies) observed he had multiple knives concealed on his person,” Arriaga said.

While speaking with the driver, deputies learned he was in possession of narcotics and a firearm inside the vehicle, according to Arriaga.

“Deputies conducted a search of the car and recovered various amounts of methamphetamine and an unsecured, loaded firearm,” she said.

Juan Polanco, 34, from San Fernando, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, a felony, Arriaga added.

Polanco was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with bail set at $50,000, according to arrest records.
