Metrolink Antelope Valley Line To Partially Close On Weekends Throughout July, August

Parts of the Metrolink Antelope Valley Line are scheduled to be closed on select weekends through July and August, resulting in delays.

The section of the Antelope Valley Line which runs between Lancaster and Newhall is set to be closed for maintenance during those weekends, with a slower alternate bus service provided to commuters with Metrolink tickets at no additional charge.

On the weekends of July 17 and 18, July 24 and 25, Aug. 7 and 8, Aug. 21 and 22 and Aug. 28 and 29, the Antelope Valley Line is planned to only operate between Newhall and Los Angeles.

Due to traffic, the bus service provided to passengers would lead to delays from an estimated 30 to 90 minutes long, according to Metrolink officials.

Metrolink is set to provide at least one Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible bus in each group of scheduled buses leaving a given station.

Not all buses will be able to carry bikes, as some of them are not routinely used for public transport. The buses able to carry bikes should have bicycle racks on their exteriors.

Metrolink representatives have said they will “make every effort” to have staff at the stations to help with the bus service on the days the Antelope Valley Line track is closed between Lancaster and Newhall.

The buses can be accessed at the following Metrolink Stations:

  • Metrolink Newhall Station
  • Metrolink Santa Clarita Station
  • Metrolink Via Princessa
  • Metrolink Vincent Grade/Acton Station
  • Metrolink Palmdale Station
  • Metrolink Lancaster Station

Facial coverings continue to be required at stations, aboard trains, and on buses used for alternate transportation, according to current COVID-19 restrictions.
