A Santa Clarita man in possession of narcotics was arrested during a felony traffic stop Monday after stealing a vehicle in the Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Mission Area earlier in the week, officials said.
On Monday, a deputy was patrolling near Bouquet Canyon Road and Magic Mountain Parkway in Saugus when he spotted a Toyota Camry matching the description of a stolen vehicle, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Deputies initiated a routine felony traffic stop near the intersection of 14th Street and Railroad Avenue in Newhall where narcotics and a shaved key were uncovered, according to Arriaga.
Deputies confirmed the suspect did not have authorization to drive the vehicle and used the shaved key to gain unlawful entry. The suspect also could not provide a valid California Driver’s License.

The man of the vehicle was detained pending the vehicle theft investigation, according to Arriaga.
23-year-old Christopher Porche was booked for taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, possession of a controlled substance, possession of burglary tools and for driving without a valid license, according to Arriaga.
The suspect was released several hours after the incident on a citation to appear in court in four months.
In April, Porche was arrested on several charges including taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and possession of a controlled substance for sales.
