On Tuesday, a man was arrested after he allegedly made verbal threats to customers of a Santa Clarita Valley business while brandishing a knife.
Around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, a knife threat was reported to deputies at a Santa Clarita business on the 22900 block of Lyons Avenue in Newhall, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
A man reportedly waved a knife at patrons and yelled verbal threats, according to Arriaga.
Victims of the threats positively identified the detained male suspect, and a search of the suspect resulted in the recovery of a pocket knife, Arriaga stated.
Joaquin Salgado Vergara, 48, from Santa Ana, was arrested for attempted robbery and criminal threats, both felonies, according to Arriaga.
Salgado Vergara was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $100,000, according to arrest records.
