Intoxicated Man Arrested After Threatening Woman At Santa Clarita Gas Station

An intoxicated man was arrested Friday on felony criminal threats after he allegedly verbally threatened a woman at a Santa Clarita gas station.

Around 6 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to a gas station located on the 23000 block of Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country regarding a disturbance call, said Deputy Candice Gonzales, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“It was reported a male adult verbally threatened the victim while at the gas station pumps after asking him to put out his cigarette,” Gonzales said.

The suspect made verbal threats and made racial remarks, causing the victim to fear for her life, Gonzales said.

“Deputies later detained the male adult matching the description and immediately observed the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath and appeared intoxicated,” Gonzales said.

Christopher Mercurio, 49, a transient, was arrested on felony criminal threats, Gonzales added.

Mercurio was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s jail with bail set at $50,000, according to arrest records.
