Last week, Reyes Winery owner Robert Reyes gave KHTS an insider tour of the new facility in Newhall, which is set to include a glass elevator and ceiling made of repurposed wood from wine barrels.
Reyes Winery has a new location set to open on Main Street in Newhall, planned to have a restaurant, wine processing room and tasting room.
When renovations are finished, the building is planned to have a modern-rustic feel reflective of the area’s atmosphere.
Reyes began the tour on the first floor of the building, showing the area set to become the dining room. The room is set to feature a semi-circular bar.
A dumbwaiter has been installed in the building, useful for transporting food out of the kitchen downstairs to be served to restaurant-goers in other areas of the building.
Although the new winery location in Newhall has not officially opened yet, a chef has already been hired by the restaurant.

“He is well experienced and he knows Main Street, so we’re looking forward to having him running our kitchen,” Reyes said.
The second floor of the building is set to contain a wine-processing room with a lab and barrels of wine.
The building’s third floor is mainly made up of an open-air terrace which is slated to be filled with seating.
An elevator tower runs through the floor of the terrace. The portion of the tower located on the terrace is constructed with glass walls, so as not to disrupt the open feel of the outdoor area.
A smaller portion of the third floor is taken up by an indoor wine tasting room, which has a special feature.
“My favorite part of the building is the tasting room, which I previously called the crown jewel,” Reyes said. “Instead of a regular drop ceiling, we would have a cloud ceiling made out of wood saved from barrels.”
The salvaged wood from old wine barrels seemed fitting given the building’s theme and function as a winery, according to Reyes.
Reyes says that winery club members will get to see the new location in action first.
The facility is set to have a soft opening for wine club members and a soft opening for the restaurant located downstairs. However, as of Tuesday, it is unclear when the Winery is set to have the openings.
“Join our club membership,” Reyes said. “We would love to have you come up for that opening.”
