A fiery 14 Freeway crash blocked all northbound lanes and sparked a brush fire, dubbed the Crown Fire, north of Santa Clarita Friday afternoon.
UPDATE ( 7 p.m.) : All northbound lanes have been reopened according to CHP officials.
Around 2:45 p.m. Friday, first responders received reports of a traffic collision involving fire that spread to the brush on the northbound 14 Freeway near Crown Valley Road in Acton, said Charisma Murillo, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“It came in as a traffic collision and was upgraded to a brush fire,” Murillo said.
Initial reports were that a vehicle was traveling the wrong direction on the 14 Freeway and struck a big rig head-on, according to California Highway Patrol, (CHP) Logs.
As of 3 p.m. Friday, the big rig is fully engulfed sparked a 200 by 300 spot fire, according to Fire officials.
One person was reported trapped in their vehicle, and a helicopter was requested to transport two possible patients, according to Fire officials.
As of 3 p.m. Friday, all northbound 14 Freeway lanes in Acton have been shut down, according to California Highway Patrol officials.
