In celebration of Women Veterans Day, Congressman Mike Garcia, R-Santa Clarita, led a team of volunteers in delivering care packages for veterans across the 25th district including Santa Clarita.
In the lead-up to National Flag Week and in celebration of Women Veterans Day, Garcia and his team of volunteers assembled and delivered care packages for veterans to honor the sacrifices of those who served to protect and defend our country as part of his June Saturday of Service event.
“Our veterans and their families have made countless sacrifices so we can enjoy the freedoms we have today,” said Garcia in a statement Saturday. “The least we can do is make sure they have what they need when they return home. I’m proud of Team Garcia’s continued focus on putting local veterans first, and I hope our work here today will make life a little easier for the heroes of the 25th district.”

On Saturday’s event, Garcia and 20 of his dedicated volunteers assembled care packages at his SCV headquarters and delivered them to the Simi Valley VFW Military History Museum, in addition to locations in Santa Clarita and the Antelope Valley.
Previous Saturday of Service events include team Garcia’s April food drive, which assisted the SCV Food Pantry in supporting local families, and May’s blood drive, which worked to help blood banks recover from shortages due to the pandemic.
Team Garcia works to make charity, especially related to local veterans, a hallmark of their campaign.
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Garcia and his hundreds of volunteers remained active in the community. As local families and businesses struggled to cope with COVID-19 and California’s lockdown policies, Garcia personally donated to local non-profits supporting CA-25 veterans, law enforcement officers, students in need, and those struggling with cancer.
